Baseball Recap: Newburyport Takes Down Hudson in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Newburyport had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Hudson Hawks by a score of 7-2 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.

Sean Estabrook tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Sanchez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Newburyport's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Hudson, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Coming up, Newburyport will take on Shawsheen Valley Tech on Monday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so the Clippers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Hudson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
