Baseball Recap: Wellington's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Roosevelt, Wellington was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Greeley Central Wildcats by a score of 12-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Owen Gabbert was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Tanner McLean was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

With the victory, Wellington broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-10. As for Greeley Central, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Wellington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
