Softball Recap: Carlsbad Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

While Carlsbad's win against Roswell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cavemen/Cavegirls' pitcher stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cavemen/Cavegirls haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Kalion Fuentes's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Carlsbad's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Roswell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat the Coyotes by a score of 1-0 later that day.
