Baseball Game Preview: Lampasas Badgers vs. Jarrell Cougars

Lampasas and Jarrell are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lampasas Badgers will be playing at home against the Jarrell Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lampasas has four straight victories, Jarrell has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lampasas' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Jarrell with a sharp 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Badgers, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Calvin Phelps's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, JT Posten was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kade Landry, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Lampasas pushed their record up to 10-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.33 hits in those games compared to only 4.83 in the others. As for Jarrell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
