Baseball Game Preview: McFarland Cougars vs. Del Oro Suns

The McFarland Cougars will take on the Del Oro Suns at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Del Oro took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on McFarland, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, McFarland turned things around against Kennedy on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Thunderbirds 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 16, 2024.

McFarland's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Ortega, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Del Oro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 9-6 to Golden Valley.

Del Oro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for McFarland, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-5-1.
