Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Orem walked away with it. They took down the Timpview Thunderbirds 40-22 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Orem didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lopeti Matai'Tini Moala Jr. Aka Juni and Parker Murray. Will Rasmussen was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending three passes.
Timpview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Engemann, who threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Engemann is becoming a predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Dennis Tuaone was Engemann's top target, picking up 118 receiving yards and one score.
Orem's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Timpview, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record.
