Basketball Recap: Griffith Comes Up Short

Griffith lost against La Porte back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Slicers. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Porte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sawyer Tonagel led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Tonagel a new career-high. Griffin Ott-Large was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six boards and five assists.

Griffith's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for La Porte, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Griffith will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2026. La Porte has already played their next contest (against Hanover Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
