Baseball Recap: North Summit Braves vs. North Sevier Wolves

North Summit extended their losing streak to 13 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They came up short against the North Sevier Wolves, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on April 8th.

North Summit saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cael Crittenden, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

As for North Sevier, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

On North Sevier's side, Hunter Lund was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lund has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Parker Jensen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Sevier's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-11 when he doesn't). Rylan Frischknecht was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Summit will square off against Monticello at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Sevier, they will take on Gunnison Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
