Basketball Recap: Rancho Cotate Comes Up Short

Rancho Cotate and Lick-Wilmerding squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Rancho Cotate had to settle for second. They lost to the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers at home by a 65-47 margin. The Cougars have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the loss, Rancho Cotate still got an impressive performance from Adam Pengel, who went 7-for-15 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. Pengel is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Decimus Shaw was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Rancho Cotate's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their win bumped their record up to 20-7.

Rancho Cotate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lick-Wilmerding, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cardinal Newman will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Lick-Wilmerding surely won't give up without a fight.
