Volleyball Recap: Ava Wins Going Away Against Mansfield

Ava's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mansfield Lions with a sharp 3-0 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Ava was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-14, 25-15.

Ava found their leader in freshman Kendall Fortner, who had seven digs and six aces. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Fortner. Jane Hamby also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Ava was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mansfield only served five.

Ava's win bumped their record up to 8-12-2. As for Mansfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Ava has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Conway on the 13th. As for Mansfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Bakersfield on the 9th.
