Softball Recap: Belding Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Belding ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Calvin Christian Squires, sneaking past 5-4. While the Redskins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Emma Ingles spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 22 Ks. Those 22 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Olivia Ingles was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

Belding's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Calvin Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Squires beat Belding by a score of 9-8 later that day.
