Lapel came out on top against Eastern Hancock on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Royals 10-0. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Addison Bodenhorn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Stires, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Delaney Balser was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Lapel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Hancock only posted a batting average of .211.
Lapel's record is now 16-5. As for Eastern Hancock, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.
Looking ahead, Lapel will square off against Wapahani at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will challenge North Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
