Softball Recap: Verrado Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Verrado proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Flagstaff Eagles 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Vipers: when they faced off against the Eagles on Friday, they had to take a 7-0 defeat.

The result came thanks to Jill Ryan's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lily Falk was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Stell, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The victory was the third in a row for Verrado, bringing their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Flagstaff, they moved to 15-7-1 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Verrado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Santa Cruz Valley on the 19th. As for Flagstaff, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Coconino on the 21st.
