Baseball Game Preview: Washougal Panthers vs. Hockinson Hawks

Washougal and Hockinson are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Panthers will challenge the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washougal will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Washougal is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Woodland with a sharp 14-4 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Nash Neumann was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen MacDonald, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Washougal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Hockinson waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Spudders.

The team relied heavily on Skyler Liddie, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hockinson's record now sits at 5-12. As for Washougal, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11.

Everything went Washougal's way against Hockinson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Washougal made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
