Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Sparta

Sparta had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Crane on Wednesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Addie Humble spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

At the plate, Norah Stallcup was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paisley Phillips, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Sparta pushed their record up to 5-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Sparta will take on Spokane at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crane, they will square off against Bradleyville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
