Basketball Recap: Sahmaj Alcime's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plantation over Cypress Bay

Plantation's tournament run continued when they took on Cypress Bay on Saturday. The Plantation Colonels received a blow as they fell 56-42 to the Cypress Bay Lightning. While losing is never fun, the Colonels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Lightning are ranked 112th).

Several Colonels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sahmaj Alcime, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Washington, who scored nine points and four steals.

Plantation's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Cypress Bay, they moved to 11-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Plantation didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-64 defeat against True North Classical Academy on the 20th. As for Cypress Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-53 victory against Coral Gables on the 20th.
