Basketball Game Preview: Virginia Academy Patriots vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers

The Virginia Academy Patriots will face off against the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Virginia Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-57 to Fredericksburg Christian. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Rondel Jones Jr. and Noah Caesar. Caesar had a solid game and posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals. Meanwhile, Jones Jr. was balling out in the loss, putting up 13 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hargrave Military Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They took down the Saints 71-52. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won three in a row.

Virginia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their win bumped their record up to 23-17.

Everything went Virginia Academy's way against Hargrave Military Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Virginia Academy made off with an 89-68 victory.
