Football Preview: McMahon Senators vs. Trumbull Eagles

After each having a week off, the McMahon Senators and the Trumbull Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McMahon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.5 points per game this season.

McMahon's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over Bridgeport Central on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Senators just coasted through the last quarter.

Lorenzo Laracca was a one-man wrecking crew for McMahon as he threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes.

McMahon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacob Virgulak and Isiaha Mcrae Jr.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trumbull). They came out on top against Ridgefield by a score of 41-28 last Saturday.

Trumbull can attribute much of their success to Will Carley, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and Jaden Tuhaise, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Those 81 rushing yards gave Carley a new career-high.

He was just one part of a punishing run game: Trumbull was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Trumbull wouldn't let Ridgefield keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Trumbull can thank Carley and Brayden Jagoe for forcing both of them.

The win made it two in a row for McMahon and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Trumbull, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

McMahon might still be hurting after the 34-9 loss they got from Trumbull when the teams last played back in October of 2016. Thankfully for McMahon, John Mcelroy (who threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
