Softball Recap: South Pemiscot Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Pemiscot entered their tilt with Senath-Hornersville on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 16-3 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-2 back in April.

Phoenix Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last three matches. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Khyla Edwards and Mollie Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Moore went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Edwards has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gracyn Trammel, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

South Pemiscot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Senath-Hornersville only posted an OBP of .364.

South Pemiscot's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Senath-Hornersville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Looking ahead, South Pemiscot will be playing at home against Portageville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Senath-Hornersville, they will head out to square off against Naylor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
