Baseball Game Preview: Oak Grove Tigers vs. Corner Yellow Jackets

The Oak Grove Tigers will face off against the Corner Yellow Jackets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Corner took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oak Grove, who comes in off a win.

Oak Grove is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They never let John Carroll Catholic onto the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won four in a row.

Colton Praytor and Dalton Troncalli made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Praytor didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Troncalli tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Praytor didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Praytor scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Troncalli scored a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wiley Hicks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Jay Fuller, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Corner had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 11-4 to John Carroll Catholic on Friday.
