Softball Recap: Frankfort Gets the Win

Frankfort's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Mountain Ridge Miners. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won five in a row.

Peyton Kimble made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Kimble was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raygan Grogg, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Elizabeth Crowe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Frankfort's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Mountain Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Frankfort will take on Allegany at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 4.1, the Campers 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mountain Ridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Fort Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
