Baseball Game Preview: Leland Chargers vs. Willow Glen Rams

For the second straight game, Leland will face off against Willow Glen. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Leland fell victim to Willow Glen and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The shutout was out of character for the Chargers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For Willow Glen's part, the result came thanks to Dante Pini's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. Pini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ray Walsh was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ben Mudgett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win (which was Willow Glen's seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Leland, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.
