Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Eastlake's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Eastlake had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They skirted past the Patrick Henry Patriots 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

Nick Romero tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Angel Laya was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was JP Conero, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Eastlake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9-2.

As of now, neither Eastlake nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
