Soccer Game Preview: Choctaw Central vs. Caledonia

The Choctaw Central Warriors will face off against the Caledonia Cavaliers on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Choctaw Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Tishomingo County a 10-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Caledonia made sure to put some goals up on the board against Senatobia on Saturday. They blew past the Warriors 7-0. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Warriors are ranked 78th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caledonia is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up five goals over those 12 matchups. As for Choctaw Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Choctaw Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Caledonia in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 2-0. Does Choctaw Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Caledonia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
