Basketball Recap: Cypress Christian Gets the Win

Cypress Christian posted their closest victory since November 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kelly Catholic Bulldogs, sneaking past 38-35. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-23 on January 10th.

Despite the loss, Kelly Catholic still got an impressive performance from Mattie Holmes, who posted 21 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Holmes is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Lilly Cerkiewicz, who scored nine points.

Cypress Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Kelly Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Christian will square off against Legacy Prep Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Kelly Catholic, they will take on The Woodlands Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
