Baseball Game Preview: Hooker Bulldogs vs. Guymon Tigers

Hooker is 0-4 against Guymon since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Hooker after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 16-6 to Shattuck. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hunter Ray made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ray is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Guymon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Western Heights, falling 12-2.

Andres Ozaeta was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kyle Harmon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Hooker's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Guymon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hooker has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .540. However, it's not like Guymon struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Hooker couldn't quite get it done against Guymon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
