Softball Recap: Anna Earle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead King over Blake

King extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-15 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-3 to the Blake Yellow Jackets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

King saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Earle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

As for Blake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

On Blake's side, C Hobbs made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hobbs was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Blake got a massive performance out of J Feliciano, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Feliciano a new career-high. A Barcelo was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

King has already played their next match, an 18-0 defeat against Mulberry on the 28th. As for Blake, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss against Countryside on the 29th.
