Basketball Game Preview: Shipley vs. Haverford School Fords

Shipley took a 23-point defeat the last time they faced off against Episcopal Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Shipley narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Episcopal Academy 59-57.

Stevie Maniatis was a one-man wrecking crew as he shot 58% from the field en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Those 58% field goal percentage gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danilo Linsalata, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Haverford School didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hun on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. The Fords haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The win got Shipley back to even at 1-1. As for Haverford School, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Shipley took a serious blow against Haverford School when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 76-23. Can Shipley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
