Basketball Game Preview: North Marion Huskies vs. Stayton Eagles

North Marion hasn't had much luck against Stayton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The North Marion Huskies will square off against the Stayton Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, North Marion was beaten by Cascade 59-32. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Cougars are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Stayton's undefeated season came to an end after 17 games on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Philomath. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Marion's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Stayton, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-1.

North Marion took a serious blow against Stayton when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-15. Can North Marion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
