Baseball Game Preview: Vincennes Lincoln Alices vs. Jasper Wildcats

Vincennes Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Jasper recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Alices will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Vincennes Lincoln 3.3, Jasper 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Vincennes Lincoln saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon, sneaking past 7-5. The Alices haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Brady Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Hall, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Vincennes Lincoln lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Jasper had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Jasper pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, their record now sits at 18-8.

Vincennes Lincoln suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Jasper in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Alices avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
