Softball Game Preview: Hockinson Hawks vs. La Center Wildcats

The Hockinson Hawks will square off against the La Center Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Hockinson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hudson's Bay with a sharp 45-7 victory on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Ritton, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, six RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Leeann Williams was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Hockinson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, La Center had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 24-9 margin over the Trappers. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Hockinson's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for La Center, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
