Soccer Recap: Winona Takes a Loss

Winona lost against Strayhorn back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Winona Tigers came up short against the Strayhorn Mustangs, falling 6-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Tigers haven't been shut out since back in December of 2024.

The defeat snapped Winona's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. As for Strayhorn, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Winona challenge the Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winona is facing Independence at the right time seeing as Independence is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Strayhorn, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Coahoma County at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Strayhorn will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Coahoma County will have lost four straight heading into Monday's matchup.
