Basketball Recap: Deckerville's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After flying high against Ubly last Friday, Deckerville came back down to earth. The Deckerville Eagles lost to the Kingston Cardinals on the road by a 59-42 margin on Tuesday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 59-47.

When it comes to explaining why Deckerville lost, don't look at Logan Martin. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points and five rebounds. The game was Martin's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Salowtiz, who scored five points.

Kingston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin DeRoseau, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Harrington, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Deckerville moved to 14-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Kingston, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Deckerville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kingston, they have already played their next contest, a 35-30 win against Genesee Christian on the 6th.
