Softball Recap: Bishop Snyder Wins Going Away Against St. Johns Country Day

Bishop Snyder won the last time they faced St. Johns Country Day and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-1 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Caitlyn Boshell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Gotto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Juliana Roldan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Bishop Snyder always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Johns Country Day only posted an OBP of .071.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Snyder and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for St. Johns Country Day, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Snyder will head out to face off against Fernandina Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
