Basketball Game Preview: Brookland-Cayce Bearcats vs. Georgetown Bulldogs

The Brookland-Cayce Bearcats and the Georgetown Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brookland-Cayce has four straight wins, Georgetown has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Brookland-Cayce is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 65-39 margin over Andrews on Saturday. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Brookland-Cayce's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dalacia Rouse, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Kamryn Etheredge, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards. With that strong performance, Rouse is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Cobb, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Brookland-Cayce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Georgetown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap two weeks ago as they fell 38-33 to Hanahan. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Hawks are ranked 83rd).

Brookland-Cayce's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Georgetown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
