Basketball Recap: Bethany Community Comes Up Short

Bethany Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss. They were dealt a 72-39 defeat at the hands of the Leadership Academy Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 624th, while the Falcons are ranked 262nd).

Despite the loss, Bethany Community still got an impressive performance from Brooks Lawson, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Harvey, who scored seven points.

Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Graham Hronich, who made all 5 shots he took for 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Hronich continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Caden Ryker was another key player, putting up seven points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.

Bethany Community's loss dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Leadership Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Bethany Community has already played their next contest, an 80-30 defeat against Bishop McGuinness on the 4th. As for Leadership Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 4-0 victory against Triad Math and Science Academy on the 4th.
