Baseball Recap: Golden Gate's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Golden Gate's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Gateway Charter Griffins 8-1. The Titans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th.

Daniel Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Golden Gate is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Angel Siso was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Marlon Cancio also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Golden Gate moved to 5-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Gateway Charter, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden Gate will venture away from home to challenge First Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gateway Charter, they will head out to face off against Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
