Baseball Recap: Piedmont Starts off Right with Win over Salesian College Preparatory

Piedmont had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Salesian College Preparatory Pride 9-1. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Pride: they've now won six in a row.

George Bishop looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Markos Lagios was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jordan Vo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Salesian College Preparatory is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Piedmont has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 win against Acalanes on the 28th. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on Hercules at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
