Softball Preview: Lake Hornets vs. Pisgah Dragons

After four games on the road, Lake is heading back home. They will take on the Pisgah Dragons at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Lake heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Pisgah. Lake was red-hot at the plate headed into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior) but Pisgah's pitchers proved too tough.

For Pisgah's part, Alyssa McMurtrey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. McMurtrey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Pisgah let Maddi Byrd and Madysen Washington loose on the outfield. Byrd went 2-for-3 with a home run, while Washington scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Washington is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Holeman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lake's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-9. As for Pisgah, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-7.
