Basketball Game Preview: Deweyville Pirates vs. Vinton Lions

The Deweyville Pirates will take on the Vinton Lions in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Deweyville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 62 points last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Starks on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Panthers, falling 70-21. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Deweyville's defeat came about despite a quality game from Micah Curl, who posted three points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Vinton had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They walked away with a 67-57 win over the Demons.

Vinton pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Deweyville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
