Basketball Recap: Mountain Grove Takes a Loss

Mountain Grove suffered their biggest defeat since December 26, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against the West Plains Zizzers, falling 77-48. The Panthers lost against the Zizzers in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 63-57 score last time.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain Grove and nudges their season record down to 8-10. As for West Plains, they pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mountain Grove and West Plains could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Mountain Grove will face off against Thayer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 165 places (201 vs. 36). Similarly, West Plains (ranked 123rd) will meet Logan-Rogersville (ranked 15th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
