Softball Recap: North Ridgeville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

North Ridgeville took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Strasburg-Franklin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rangers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Tigers on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Rangers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Selena Bottomlee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Kailee Pasenow was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Kasey Melvin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

North Ridgeville's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

North Ridgeville will face off against Mt. Vernon at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 3.9, the Yellowjackets 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
