Football Recap: David Mcgruder and Tyson Drummond Secure Win for Northeast

Northeast's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Boca Ciega on Friday. The Vikings enjoyed a cozy 23-7 victory over the Osceola Warriors. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tyson Drummond and David McGruder. Drummond rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown while McGruder rushed for 34 yards and one TD.

Northeast was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 354 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Northeast didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Javontae Simmons and Adrian Brown. Simmons also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Robert Swain was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

The win got Northeast back to even at 3-3. As for Osceola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Osceola, they will host Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Warhawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
