Softball Game Preview: Stewarts Creek Red Hawks vs. Cookeville Cavaliers

The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks will take on the Cookeville Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stewarts Creek's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Cookeville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stewarts Creek saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Green Hill by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Cookeville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Wilson Central.

Kadie Presley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Kali Webb was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Stewarts Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Cookeville, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-8.

Stewarts Creek couldn't quite finish off Cookeville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Red Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
