Basketball Recap: South Summit Wildcats vs. Park City Miners

South Summit had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Park City Miners on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, South Summit saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sydney Crystal almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 boards.

Park City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kalynn Nickell, who shot 63% from the field on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Those 63% field goal percentage gave Nickell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Johnson, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and four steals.

The win got Park City back to even at 1-1.

South Summit wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-38 loss against Bear River on the 21st. As for Park City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-19 defeat against Brighton on the 21st.
