Basketball Game Preview: McComb Panthers vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams

The McComb Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Scioto Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McComb, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when McComb took on New Bremen on Saturday. McComb came out on top against New Bremen by a score of 36-27. The 36-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Upper Scioto Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Arcadia and fell 58-9. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while the Redskins are ranked 262nd).

McComb pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for McComb against Upper Scioto Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 52-19 win. In that game, McComb amassed a halftime lead of 37-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
