Basketball Recap: Florence's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Florence posted their biggest victory since January 12, 2024 on Saturday. They blew past the Natchez Bulldogs 67-42. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Natchez's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Daylan Haywood, who posted 14 points, and William Johnson, who had 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamron Morgan, who scored five points.

Florence's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-7. As for Natchez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Brookhaven the next time they take the court. Natchez will host Brookhaven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Florence will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
