            Softball Recap: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. Shakamak Lakers        
        
		
        
        
            Eastern Greene lost against Shakamak back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Friday. The Thunderbirds came up short against  the Lakers, falling  12-4. Thunderbirds fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lakers since  on Friday.

 Charley Paurazas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   four  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Makayla Singh was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
Eastern Greene's loss was  their third straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Shakamak, their  win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-9.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Greene will venture away from home to  take on North Central  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Shakamak, they will take on Edgewood at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8  runs per game  this season, so the Lakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
