The Lake Forest Scouts will head out on the road to take on the Indian Trail Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lake Forest hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Lake Forest lost 11-2 to Libertyville on Tuesday.
Lake Forest got a good showing from Andrew Marks, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Marks has allowed since back in April.
On the hitting side, Bink Hartline was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jack Lamberti also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Indian Trail, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Racine Horlick 1-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Not much got past Jack Zeller, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Racine Horlick off the board. Zeller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Indian Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Minatto, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Indian Trail is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
Lake Forest skirted past Indian Trail 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Scouts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
