Baseball Game Preview: Bluffton Pirates vs. Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets

Bluffton is a perfect 4-0 against Cory-Rawson since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will square off against the Fighting Hornets at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Bluffton and six for Cory-Rawson.

Bluffton's last matchup with Crestview could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Pirates came up short against the Knights, falling 8-0.

Perry hit Cory-Rawson with a nine-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Fighting Hornets lost 12-1 to the Commodores.

Cory-Rawson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Moon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Bluffton's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Bluffton took their win against Cory-Rawson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
